Until very recently, Brampton was a rural community. Interestingly, before the 1800s, the only Brampton property of any significance was a tavern named William Buffy's tavern. It was in the 1970s that development began and in the 1980s, large tracts of lands were released for residential development. Construction continued almost un-interrupted with the largest boom take place in the late 1990s. Today, a Brampton property can be found as far north as the border of Caledon and west to the Georgetown limit.
