About the Program

The Home in Peel Affordable Ownership Program has been around since 2008 and has helped over 260 applicants purchase a home. The funds available are limited and are allocated on a first come basis.

The Home in Peel Affordable Ownership Program is intended to assist individuals who are currently renting, and want to purchase a resale home in the Region of Peel (Brampton, Caledon, Mississauga), with a down payment of $15,000.  The applicant(s) total household income CANNOT exceed $80,000, and the maximum purchase price is $280.000.  Properties that are eligible for the program include detached, semi-detached, townhouses, condo apartments and condo townhouses.

Note: There are other programs in addition to the Home in Peel Affordable Ownership Program that can assist applicants in becoming homeowners.

Who can qualify?

Applicant(s):

• 18 years of age or older;
• that do not own or have an interest in another residential property;
• that are currently renting and looking to buy a sole and principal residence;
• that are able to obtain a mortgage and demonstrate sustainability; and
• that are able to pay all additional closing costs (lawyer etc.).

  Note:

  1. The home must be the sole and principal residence of the purchaser.
  2. This program is not limited to first-time buyers....all buyers can apply.
